「大玄玄社會」反映藝術家常陵關注社會的興趣，同時也是他個人生活中記憶片段的呈現。作品中樸拙厚實的筆觸、豐富多變的色彩、隨心揮灑的線條，真實的呈現藝術家的內心想法。這次，他觀察社會的距離又走近了一步，也許看得更清楚更深入了些。於是，畫作中主體比以往更明確，作品的表現力度所給觀者的感受也更聚焦深刻。

這次，我們看見藝術家這幾年所秉持的恰恰精神，也欣賞藝術家從架構嚴謹恢弘的「五花肉」系列，到猶如反映生活現實多重鏡面的「大玄玄社會」創作實踐。「大玄玄社會」不僅是嶄新的創作，更是一場行動上的藝術，從回望自身開始、從而精準地淬鍊出高密度卻質純的態度，進而呈現新的個人風格。

常陵為台灣1970年代出生優異藝術家，家庭背景受到藝術、文學、音樂濃厚薰陶，並長期接受西方文化衝擊與洗禮長達九年時間，並於法國國立巴黎高等藝術學院畢業，同時師事觀念藝術大師Christian Boltanski，於歐洲當地有豐富展覽經驗。常陵以獨特當代社會反思結合藝術創作，呈現出社會的內在深層意涵，正如同MOT/ARTS從2008年成立以來，在創新中不忘原始初衷，持續創造更美好的明天。 

 

My works completed from 2010 to 2013 were about art in society. As an artist, regardless of how interested I am in social structures, I must eventually return alone to my predestined artistic role. I perceived carefully each process, from the motive to the presentation, from the style to the author’s contemplation over creativity. Any revolution I create must be from my post as an artist. - Chang Ling 

The Illusion Society reflects Chang Ling’s concern for, and interest in, society, but it also reveals the fragmentary memories he retains of his own life. His inner thoughts are vividly revealed through his simple and solid strokes, brilliant and ever-changing colors, and unconfined use of line. In this exhibition, the artist moves a step closer in his observation of social phenomena. Perhaps, he also sees deeper and therefore clearer, so much so that the subjects in these paintings become more defined than those in his previous works. Viewers will also notice that the artist’s presentation is both stronger and more focused than before. 

From Illusion Society, we can see how the artist lives up to the “spirit of aptness” to which he has adhered for years. We also see how he turns from the broader and more exact structure of his Streaky Pork series to the more diverse dimensions of society reflected in The Illusion Society. The Illusion Society is not merely Chang Ling’s latest creation, it is art in action: from retrospection and an intensely pure attitude to an entirely new personal style. 

Chang Ling, an artist born in Taiwan in the 1970s, grew up in an environment of art, literature and music at home. He was also molded and shaped by Western culture over a period of nine years, graduating from the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts and École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was taught by the master of conceptual art, Christian Boltanski, and had many exhibitions in Europe. Chang Ling combines artistic creation with his unique retrospection towards contemporary society, presenting deep insights into society. Similarly, since its establishment in 2008, MOT/ARTS has striven to live up to its original intent through constant innovations, continuing to create a better tomorrow.
